👥 Roles and permissions

The following roles can import users:

  • Administrators

If your organization has a large number of users, you can import them into Hyperproof via CSV.

📝 Note

If you are importing a very large number of users, please contact Support before doing so. Importing a large number of users at once may slow down the User Picker in other areas of the system.

Imported users are added to Hyperproof as contacts. The import users process doesn't support assigning a user a role. You can assign a role to individual users under Settings > People by clicking the Invite link next to the user's name.

Adding multiple users at once

Step One: Downloading the example CSV

The easiest way to start importing users is by downloading Hyperproof’s example CSV. The example CSV file provides the exact template for successfully importing users into Hyperproof.

  1. From the left menu, select Settings.

  2. Select the People tab.

  3. Click Import.

  4. Click Download the example CSV.

Step Two: Editing the CSV

Replace the contents of the example CSV with your own users. Follow the format of the example file to ensure that your users are successfully imported.

Heading

Value

User

Must be formatted as FirstName LastName (email address), i.e. Jennifer Cook ([email protected]). This field is required.

Tip: A contact can be someone either inside or outside of your organization. Contacts can't log in to Hyperproof.

If a user in the CSV file already exists in your Hyperproof organization, organization generates an error during the user import process. You can choose to skip rows with errors or correct the CSV file and try the import again.

Below is a snippet of a sample import file.

Step Three: Importing the CSV

After you’ve made the necessary changes to the CSV, it can be imported into Hyperproof.

  1. Drag and drop the CSV file into the Upload CSV File field, or click Select file to upload to upload it manually.

  2. Click Import.

Hyperproof checks the format within the CSV file to ensure that there are no errors. An alert is generated if Hyperproof encounters any errors.

  3. If Hyperproof didn’t detect any errors, click Next. If Hyperproof detected errors, do one or both of the following:

    1. Correct the errors by double-clicking the cell that contains the highlighted error and correct the value.

    2. Remove rows that contain errors by clicking Remove all rows with errors.

  4. Click Next.

    The CSV is imported.

  5. Review the list of people displayed on the People window.

Note that all of the new users are listed as contacts. If you only need to import contacts, you don't need to continue.

  6. To assign a user a role and allow them to log in to Hyperproof, click the Invite link next to their name.

    The Invite window displays.

  7. Click the Role drop-down and select a role for the user. See Organizational roles and permissions for information on each role.

  8. Update the message in the Message field if necessary.

  9. Click OK to send the invitation to the user.

Note that the user can't be assigned to objects, such as an issue or a task, until they accept the invitation.
