Importing proof

👥 Roles and permissions

The following roles can import proof:

  • Administrators

  • Compliance managers

  • Users

  • Limited access users

Proof can be imported in any area of Hyperproof that contains a Proof Picker or proof grid. Typically, proof is linked to objects like controls and labels, but it can also be imported at the organizational level. This means that it’s part of your organization, but isn’t attached to a specific object.

Hyperproof supports uploading proof files of any file type. However, only a subset of proof file types are supported in the Proof Viewer. See Viewing proof.

📝 Note

Hyperproof supports files that are up to 1GB in size.

💡 Tip

Adding additional information does not overwrite existing data. During the import, Hyperproof searches for any exact data identifiers. If it doesn’t find any, it treats the data as new. If it finds a match, it updates the existing data.

Linking proof to an object

  1. From the left menu, select the tab that corresponds to the object for which you want to import proof. For example, if you want to import proof and link it to a control, select the Controls tab.

  2. Select the specific object. For example, if you want to link proof to control ID 1234, select that control.

  3. Select the Proof tab.

  4. Click Add proof.

    The Proof Picker opens.

  5. Hyperproof only supports uploading up to 1GB of proof in a single upload.

Add your proof in one of the following ways:

    • Drag and drop files onto the proof grid.

    • Click Add proof and select one of the following:

      • My Computer - To use proof stored on your computer, click My Computer in the upper-left corner.

      • This <object> - To use proof stored on objects linked to an evaluation or audit request, click This <object>.

      • Cloud storage integration - To use proof stored in an integration, such as Drive, select the integration’s icon from the Add integration section in the bottom-left corner. Optionally, turn on LiveSync to automatically keep your proof up to date.

      • Paste a link - Select this option to use a website URL as proof. The URL is rendered as a “Link” file type in Hyperproof; the only information shown in the file is the URL.

      • Paste an image - Select this option to use a screenshot as proof. Take a screenshot (Cmd-Shift-5 on Mac, Shift-S on Windows), copy it to the clipboard, and then paste it in Hyperproof. Chrome users may need to allow this functionality. If prompted by the browser, refresh the page after clicking Allow.

      • Existing proof - To reuse proof that already exists in your organization, select either Labels, Proof, My Controls, Vendors, Risks, Policies, or Programs from the left menu.

        📝 Note

When selecting existing proof on a policy, only effective and retired policy versions display.
